That sounds like the directions that I use to make my trifle. Step 1, sample sherry to check quality. Step 2, make the custard, sample sherry to make certain quality doesn't diminish while stirring custard forever and ever. Step 3, soak lady fingers in sherry and coat in raspberry jam, taste test final product. Step 4, assemble the trifle in bowl and cover with whipped cream, grate dark chocolate over the top and add fresh raspberries. Step 5, pour full glass of sherry and proceed to stick whole face into the trifle. It worked great when I was 3 so why change? I just need to make my own trifle now.

Well my! my! the additions that do occur in a weeks time!
Yes Ted -- the time does come when we must make our own trifle -- - Now the kids are asking us for lessons -- "just in case" !
Enjoyed your post - -
Put a smile on my face :)
OH - should mention - our family uses the Grandma Jamieson "Americanized version " of Trifle - with Angel food cake and raspberry jelly-(with seeds please!) -and dipped in pineapple juice as our teetotaler Grandma J. insisted - - - tried the real European version and there was huge cries of "NO! NO!" :)(had it in England -
